Living with dysfunctional parents, Maribel learned at a young age how to keep the peace in her family…by silencing her own voice. Being afraid to speak up led to her dropping out of medical school, getting married at a young age, and moving to a new country. However, after years of being unhappy, she left her husband and realized her dream of studying literature and helping other women like herself.
